First off, when I read all the matches, this event went immediately into my "I HAVE to buy this on DVD list".

Matches:

JT beat Bobby Marshall (at some point Amber has to forget about supporting Bobby since he shoved her AGAIN).

Sebastian Sander beat Kiel Steria (with Michael Morleone in pain on the sidelines). The Morleone non-success caused the European Union to split.

Jose Del Santo beat Marcius Pitsonopoulus, with Johnny in his corner so maybe a complete split for EU or maybe not. Will find out in future events. Also, apparently Jose is the 2009 Draft Pick for the Allstars, although Jose didn't look impressed with that idea.

Chase Griffin & Dan Moore retined tag team titles against the Blitz Team, although Blitz won due to Chase getting hotheaded and kicking Haste in the nether region, causing a DQ. I've seen some talk of Blitz Team going heel. I'd say Chase is going heel personally. Anyway, Dan made a great speech post-match and basically set up a rematch of this for a proper, clean match at next event.

Hartley Jackson beat Devlin Reeves. Some great chopping trading going on.

Jamie Jurah (with Slick Rick in his corner) beat ..someone who's name I didn't quite catch. Was supposed to be Barry Schmidt but he is "in Africa" sunning himself or some rubbish. Of course Garry was present and annoyed us with this info. He then introduced what was to be the loser of the match, some character who has a clean slate (126-0) in greco-roman wrestling. Head gear included. Post match Slick Rick organised for a fatal four way at next event for the winner to get a title shot at Evolution. Come to Goldrush 2 at Queens Park Rec Centre on March 21 to find out who is in it.

Azazal the WANKER turned up and crapped on for 5-10 minutes.

Finally, the main event of the evening. After a long match inc some fantastic crowd chanting, Davis Storm retained.

As I said, this went straight into my list of must buy on dvd. Next event, Goldrush 2 (March 21 at Queens Park Rec Centre), we know there will be a tag team title rematch and a fatal fourway to determine who gets a shot at the EPW title at Evolution. It looks like EU have split, Chase Griffin may be going heel (whether or not Dan follows remains to be seen). Jose may or may not want to be part of Team Allstar (so we may see something of this at GR2).

A couple of thoughts. I wonder what Richter will do in the near future. Also, I think I prefer Devlin as a heel character. His intensity seems to have dropped as face. He doesnt seem to be quite on-the-ball. Lastly, I just had a thought. With EU probably gone, who do we have left as tag teams? Team Allstar, Dan & Chase (at the moment) and Blitz Team. If Amber break from Marshall and takes AZ with her (or vice versa), that could mean Bobby and Damien Slater are or can become another tag team. We live in interesting times.

Anybody who missed the show needs to apply the standard brick-to-face, either to themselves for not turning up or to someone else if they were forced to miss it.

Luckily I made it this time, so I'm brick-to-the-face free for tonight. I thought the show was pretty good, overall. A lot of stuff happened, most of it unpredictable actually. I love Chase being a prick, he'd make a great heel.

I'd like Jag to go heel, as it worked very well for him in Melbourne.

Man, being a Bobby fan I can't help but to say he needs to stop losing, let alone in the curtain jerker.

Kiel Steria needs to start winning, and start tagging with Blitz Team.

Hopefully AZ will make the save and protect Amber.

I'll post more in-depth later, but good show. Good on you EPW, well done.

I must say this was a freaking awesome night. Kudos to everyone invovled in the night. I'll post some quick thoughts.

Bobby Marshall is a true champion. Kudos for the black arm band. I will assume it was for the fire victims in Melbs. Onto the match and it was a solid "curtain jerker" Well done to both JT and Marshall. Well done on Amber for selling the shove awesomely. I look forward to the next couple of months.

I love how I predicted the Euro Breakdown, and it happened....but not in the way I thought. It'll be cool to see this story will unfold. Kudos to Johnnys awesome mic work. Seriously awesome laugh.

Marcuis v Jose = Meh, Decent.

Tag Team match was sweet, but I personally think there last encounter was better. I look forward to GoldRush #2

Devlin v Jag. I wil go out on a limb and say Jag is all hype. He may be a good wrestler but the only two times I have seen him I wasn't wowed like I was told I would. Still a good match with BRUTAL chopping. Did anyone see Devlins chest afterwards?

Davon was awesome, seriously I like his "gimmick" or whatever, he chucked out a couple of awesome germans and some sweet wrestling moves

Storm v Richter was suprisingly better then expected. Kudos to both men for making the match sweet as to watch. The Yakuza Kick is bloody awesome

Well Done EPW! I never leave Dissapointed and always come back wanting more.

I forgot to add this:

http://www.xfc.com.au/

Someone from XFC turned up just after the break to do a promo on this and brought one of the main event fighters. Also one of the UFC fighters turned up in ring as well.

Concur with those that posted above. I felt that it was a very good show and part of any good show is a great crowd - they were into it right from the get-go. I especially liked the back and forth chants during the Storm/Richter match.

As for Jamie Jurah's opponent tonight, I believe that the name you are searching for is Gavin "The Shoot Wrestler" McGavin...at least that is how Garry Schmidt introduced him.

I was extremely impressed last night.

Bobby v Jay was the match I was looking most forward to and it ended up being a great opener. Nothing like a wild brawl at the start to get the crowd into it and set the tone for the night!

Loved the 3way match too. Interesting to see how Don will go as a face. Hopefully Johnny does unleash a mean streak soon.

Marcus v Jose. Never a bad thing seeing Marcus wrestle as he's improved heaps since his US trip. Jose..well he's just like mexican food - after 5 minutes he gives me the shits!

Blitz Team vs Moore/Chase. Loved this match. Would very happily see these guys feud all year of the straps. Chase at the end was like watching "When Frodo Attacks".

Devlin v Jag. Great to see Jag back. Stiff chops all round. This match made me REALLY miss heel Devlin.

Jurah vs Shooter. Great match for what it was too. Whether Barry's wrestling lions in South Africa, or wrestling bears at the Blue Oyster, Gavin was an adequate replacment. Some fantastic mat wrestling moves and that knockout kick by Jurah toward the end was pretty damn good itself! Sick crash outside by Jurah. Glad he wasn't hurt too much afterwards.

Richter v Storm was so much better than I predicted. It really made me believe that Richter was going to get the win. The big man's really stepped up and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's changed his mind from when the push started at the Rumble.

Also Drake's promo was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I'm looking forward to what his 2009 will bring.

I think The Don would have been a better Draftpick for the Allstars...

Yeah, if he didn't turn on the Union.

Jose is a weird choice, but we'll see how it pans out.

So after taking on Raven's diet last year Drake's now taking his dress sense?

It's weird after almost no character progression last year the last 2 shows have all been shuffling everyone around and giving people direction or character.

...only really Devlin and Fergie still lost in the woods at this stage
