What A Night! Hell yes, what an awesome EPW event that was.
Meeting the wrestlers, awesome matches, and seeing the shocker of Mikey losing his belt, go Jag!
I wanted GoldRush to be on DVD, now I want this instead!

I'll get both

Loved Mikey/Jag. MOTY so far.
Xander is the man!!
No Chris Vice wooo.
DEVLIN SUSPENDED??!!. * gasp*
Hopefully he can take some time off and return as the Devlin we all knew and loved. Devlin should never be a nice guy!!
Has anybody noticed how much Damian Slater looks like Slick Rick??. Its totally uncanny!

I'll try to give thoughts while it is fresh in my mind.
Overall, a hell of a lot better then Re-Awakening, but that isn't saying much.
Opener was decent. Set the mood. Nothing overly spectacular, but solid none the less. At least it was clean. Would like to see the two go for a more casual free flowing match then something so worked like everything seems to be in EPW.
I will by-pass the squash match, as it was just pointless to me.
Tag Team match with Chase and the other guys... I have no idea who they are. It was pretty sloppy. Some okay spots and such, but yeah, the guys need to really work on their in-ring game a bit. Too many things happening at once in a small ring, just makes everyone get lost. Chase's partner got lost for a few things which just made it awkward.
Trying to remember other matches. The three way... yeah... just another spotty pile of mess. Shane Haste is just one of the most ludicrously stupid wrestlers I have ever seen.
Slater/Marshall was match of the night, and was pretty good. They worked well together, and had some nice exchanges. A couple of stupid spots that didn't need to happen. The messed up Scissors Kick looked awful for the finish.
The tag team title match, I honestly don't want to talk about that, as it was the worst match I have ever seen from EPW, but again, haven't seen a lot from them, so not really getting true feelings across.
Main event was alright. I would like to see the guys free flow a bit with the matwork. Too many lets all hit moves and hit more moves then hit more moves somemore. They tried to make it emotional. The crowd was pretty bleh. Decent effort, but the title change didn't seem as special as it could have been.
And what was with all the DDT's. Goodness, it was like minimum 2 DDT variations a match. It was like counting ludicrous Shane Haste spots, I was into double figures.
At least matches were clean. No stupid screwjob finishes apart from the terrible tag title match.

What a tool. You sound like a KENTA mark.
Mr. LUKIE- 04-05-2008
Ahahaha. Very funny. Where was your Shane Haste shirt?
thegenerator- 04-05-2008
I left it in my Lancer.
In all seriousness, you make fair points if not fairly harsh considering the product. It was acceptable.
Mr. LUKIE- 04-05-2008
I heard Shane Haste drives a Lancer.
That explains a lot.

I hear he drives the specail ed school bus and can shoot sausages from his eyes.......
Wicked show alround. Title matches where awsome as usual!

There is a try out coming up very soon i believe, maybe you could show some of the wrestlers how it's done. Perhaps you could even show mikey and jag how to "free flow" better  .
Talking seriously though, really liked the main event (it reminded me of rock/austin at wm 19 with the stolen finishers) except i thought mikey should have kept the title. And liked the opener and triple threat. Not my favourite event but it was very good considering they all have to wrestle again tomorrow.

Exactly why I think last nights event was pretty ordinary... I've been to a lot of Epw events and this was by far my least favourite.. lots of slippiness and even the wrestlers themselves didnt seem motivated... this aint a dis just an observation
Is it just me or does the crowd just not get into the matches anymore?
/usr/epw- 04-05-2008
there was definitely less crowd chanting. i could still hear the usual suspects trying to get things going from their various locations.
don't forget, though, that today is TV taping at the showgrounds.

I'm not the biggest fan of what the guy said either, but that comeback is always pretty dud. It's akin to saying society can't criticize politicians 'because they can't do any better.' Of course they can't do any better; it's not their field of expertise. Just like society can criticize politicians, wrestling fans have the right to criticize/evaluate wrestlers.
However, I don't personally know what this guy is on, because I don't see how Haste can be looked so badly upon. I'd like to hear some solid reasons, because to me Haste is one hell of an exciting wrestler on his hot-*test*-('") nights.
The crowd was quiet, which is a shame. In that situation we always look a bit foolish making non-stop noise, but somebody had to try to make some organized noise (chants, claps, etc.). Mikey/Jag was a solid match, and it - along with other matches that night - didn't get the noise it deserved.
It seems a bit contradictory to rip on one match for being too strict and technical, and then rip on the next match because the tag teams were flowing freely, which was wanted for the first match.
Xander has impressive moves, but Jesus. H. Christ, does he ever bore me. He's angry guy #324. I think I can excuse myself for some shockingly awful "Xander Clause" chants.
PSYCHOBIATCH- 04-05-2008
I thought it was ok up to the main event then it turned excellent.. I agree ITZ Haste never fails to bring up a match...Glad Richter won :D Sad that Devlin is suspended.....
It was hard to hear the chants, as the usual suspects were sitting in different areas....
We'll just have to make as much noise as we can today... :D :D

I don't see how the average fan does have a right to criticize EPW wrestlers, let alone write them off as crap completely. For a start, these guys aren't wwe wrestlers. They aren't getting paid the thousands of dollars to perform, yet they are working their asses off for you. I guarantee that anyone who's ever been in a ring wouldn't be so quick to crap on their efforts. That's my point, it's not about whether some fan can wrestle or not. It's that they can't understand just how hard it is and give some due credit, instead of expecting perfect performances for a small 15 bucks.
