Re: Qld Wrestling.Hey guys, im new to the board and the whole aussie wrestling scene, but not new to wrestling.
I returned from living overseas 2 years ago and now reside in Cairns. Im dying to get into this industry, this lifestyle, but im starved up here.
Being here until i can get a transfer to a bigger city i am crying for wrestling entertainment besides what i write, and what i watch on AUSTAR, and the internet.
Thus... any good ideas on how to really prepare myself for once i am there. im nearly at the point of throwing in my job and coming to visit just for the try-out! But u can imagine how that makes me nervous!
ALL I WANNA DO IS WRESTLE!!!
PS- EPW is FREAKIN AMAZING! A huge congrats to everyone involved i had no idea Aus had this much to offer and it rekindled my passion for wrestling personally!
I'd hear tell the EPW tryouts are well tough, to their credit.
So I'd say make sure your fitness is up, eh.
Otherwise, here in Adelaide (if the prospect interests you, I duno what your plans are of corse) there is:
www.prowrestlingdojo.com - Run by Jag (former MPW, EPW champion, EPW tag champion(?)) and training under Havok and Damien Slater. I'm not sure of their training requirments and the likes but I'm sure they are somewhat like EPW's.
They are bassed in the city, which is good for travel, at City Gym. Which is where the Riot City Wrestling guys use to train before the SPit opened up. I also think they offer a special gym membership with the wrestling training which is something to consider for sure.
Which brings me to number two....
www.thesnakepit.com.au (site see,s to be down ATM, PM me if you want contact info) - Run by Tony Stone (former SA heavyweight champion) and has a pretty much open door pollicy on training. Not unlike the EPW tryouts, it's a good place to go and see and try a hand at it and see if you really wanna do it, -*test*-('") the water so to speak.
These are the only place in SA to be trained as a professional wrestler (to my knowlage at this point in time), take anything else you hear with a large platter of salt.
As far as other feds go, well, there are heaps... but always do your homework, some say they are proffessionally trained and are not. My advice would be to ask who they were trained by and then get in contact to confirm this.
PWA in Melb would be one to look at as well, they have and are expanding much like EPW with Joint Promotions Wrestling here in SA becoming the SA based arm of that fed and they run show pretty much every second week I think.
I'm not sure on them (JPW) as far as training but if you were to get in contact with Luke Hazard somehow (He's on
www.thewrestlingpit.com's forums if you're a member), I'm sure he'd be able to help you out.
Anywho, hope that help you out.
:)
