Night 1 thoughts
Being stuck on the freeway for 40 minutes killed my buzz for the start of the event. The night had a very TV show before the PPV or nWo-era PPV feel where almost everything was basically a preview for something else. The new enterance looked great by the way. Except for the usuals and the bogans to our right, the crowd was DEAD last night. Hopefully you guy's will have a better time tommrow (with Haste vs. Mikey on the card that's pretty certain). Slater was impressive and really solid, the match had a great flow going but the fact the crowd couldn't even get excited for Haste was a bad sign for the rest of the night. Match of the night despite the screwy finish. Azazel/Street/Vice was decent, I would've prefered a 3way dance because I find Azazel pretty bland but I assume he's moving up the card with wins over two guys in one match. Jurah wasn't that impressive in the first match I've seen him in, comment of the night goes to the guy who said "use your Hobbit powers". It's alwats hard to get interested in a Rictor match and with the crowd last night there was no chance. The comedy spots with the refs was the highlight. The crowd was even more dead for Cartel/Carnage but again, it was a dead crowd and a face/face match so it was going to be hard to wake them up. It was a good match but nobody cared. EU finally woke the people up and played their roles well as always, this was basially the main event and it was something different. Clown Shoe's got some heat hasn't he? Bit of a tease to put Brock out there and then cut off the match (maybe this is leading to a 4 on 4 tag at HoHW?) I didn't mind the main event, it served a purpose and made Jag and Storm look like badasses. On the whole it was always going to be hard for them to top Sudden Impact but I don't see the point of making night 1 an ad for night 2. None of the matches (those that went over 2 minutes) were bad and the lame crowd didn't help but it just seemed like a weak event. But we got to sit reeeeeally close to Mullet-Dad and the Northern Suburbs guys where complaining "you call that a main event?!" so I had a laugh.

Yeah a few of the matches seemed to drag last night in certain areas and while a couple of us got a few claps going it was so cold it started to hurt the old hands more than normal. I thought the main event was really well done, Storm/Jag f**king filled GST in such a way it actually made sense............ I would of like to have seen Freeman/DOoley go for longer given Freeman was on fire in the match and Dooley was getting a fair bit of heat...... Annella looked good in the ring and I thought the intergender tag match was the 2nd best match behind Haste/Slater. also............Brad is no longer Rad

comment of the night goes to the guy who said "use your Hobbit powers". I quite enjoyed "Go back to the island Saed" towards devlin I'm sensing the return of the serial thrillers soon. Both Sane and Brad are likely to leave the positions they've got now, and they still advertise the Thrillers t-shirt on the site.

Drusilla- 05-26-2006

Bah, who gives a snot about Justin Sane anymore? We dont need him, he's useless baggage, like Lukey was. Equations for you... Storm + Jag = Tag champs. Payne + Storm + Jag = Tag and EPW champs. Dooley + Payne + Storm + Jag = Perfect Team! Blade + Dooley + Payne + Storm + Jag = Perfect Team + Guy in Stylish suits. Where does Justin fit? There's no room! We dont need him! Na na na... Dru. Forefathers: White, purple and GOLD!

Freakin'. Ive missed quite a few events, and this time i make a concerned effort to get there on time for a change too, and then i get caught for 75 minutes in a jam on the freeway, with douchebags who try and drive up the emergency lanes to get ahead, and then want to merge back into the traffic when the emergency lane ends or is blocked. Well those people can suck my balls and if they ever... er... anyway I thought the show was actually pretty darn good quality wrestling. It definetly made me wonder why i've missed the past couple of events. I loved the ending. Jag and Storm looked badass, and they just dominated GST in such a way that just made them look invincible, which was awesome. Crowd was definetly significantly down since the last event i went to, in both voice and numbers.

I'm surprised that no one has talked about the GST pyro. That was extremely cool. Not because of the actual pyro that we saw but because of the fact that people might get actual pyro's as trademark things in their entrances. But GST's glory was cut off by Jag and Storm and no one seemed to notice. The ending wasn't that good, surely they could have put over the new champs without making GST look crap. What happened to like a huge ironman tag match? Make Both teams look brilliant but have Jag/Storm go over.

Drusilla- 05-26-2006

You, my friend, are missing the damn point. Compared to Jag and Storm, GST ARE CRAP!!! That's the point. It'd take more than pyros to make them look as good as Storm and Jag, which is why no-one noticed. GST: Gold pyros. Forefathers: Gold shiny tag belts, and pending EPW champ belt. No con-*test*-('"). THAT is the point. Dru. Forefathers: White, purple and GOLD!

Dirty Harry- 05-26-2006

Oh, well the thrillers will take the belts soon anyway.

jaffa- 05-26-2006

good to see some new matches set for tonight and also the Forefathers winning the belts has also been posted

What happened to like a huge ironman tag match? Make Both teams look brilliant but have Jag/Storm go over. Here's a thought. Maybe Storm and Jag's training over at the Inoki Dojo has just created two monsters? Maybe G.S.T just need to get better instead of worrying about elaborate entrances?

Sic² Records- 05-26-2006

Well holy shit, there's a vid of the win on the main page!

FallenInsanity- 05-27-2006

Last night was the first EPW main show I've ever been too. Not really knowing what to expect I kept an open mind and at the end of it all was quite impressed. The Brock/Dooley match I personally thought was the best (minus the dq ending). That was my highlight of the night. The Cartel/Carnage match took a while for me to get into it, but I did like the finish (Cartel blocking a sunset flip from Carnage and turning it into a pinning situation - much rather prefer those surprise finishes than the built up ones but only when done correctly) Little Johnny is a classic. He gets the crowd worked up so easily and vice versa too. It was great. Can't wait for tonight. :D Oh and after being handled by Annella, did Johnny get the towel I'm sure he would have needed to umm, clean up? haha

i think you lot are far too hung up on crowd participation. no matter how quiet the crowd is, an EPW event always has an awesome vibe. people don't come to EPW events and spend the whole time chatting away to their mates, not even in the drinking area. noisy or quiet, the audience get into the matches. forget trying to get people to chant, i want to see MORE SIGNS! as for the event, it was great to see some interstate talent showing us what they've got, it's great to see tommy cartel coming into his own, and i'm looking forward to see where vice and street are going character wise. the last match was awesome. it's rare in this form of entertainment that something truly comes from left field, but no one coud have predicted that GST v jag and storm would happen in the way that it did. i think i was most impressed on this night, though, by the performance we got from anella. it was a treat to see such a full on and convincing performance from a female wrestler, because we don't get the honour often.
