Ok im sorry but it has to be said This List Is Shit.. How does a man who's vocabulary consists of screaming the word saaaaaaaarrrrr rank higher than davis storm who didnt even make it into the top 30 and how does someone who has clearly improved a great amount since training over at the dojo drop two spots (bbb)

N.A.S.- 01-03-2007

Dude it's a pretty tough ask for them to compile a list from all over Australia, when they haven't personally seen a number of the guys themselves (ie most EPWers) or more than a few maches. I think this year they got some assistance from a number of fans from different states to help them out, to try and make it a little less Vic-centric and more national. Having said that though I agree the list isn't perfect, but like I said, untill you have someone who has seen every match from every promotion throughout the year, you'll never get a perfect list and even then people will disagree because it's based largely of personal preference

chad- 01-03-2007

Also a lot of us haven't seen some of the other guys in the list ever wrestle before so we wouldn't know if they deserve their spot or not. Sides there are many factors lists like this should go on including results, crowd reactions and ability to work the crowd (dooley would be no 1 on this alone) consistancy, can they wrestle safe, ability to keep up kayfabe (- points for a lot of aussie wrestlers here) ability to put their opponent over, cosmetics and gimmick, wrestling ability, and obviously titles etc

Dirty Harry- 01-04-2007

It's still crap. How could Payne not even make the 50 considering how great his matches were this year? All of the guys I haven't seen better be pretty awesome to deserve a spot above him.

chad- 01-04-2007

Yeah i agree with that. Payne should have at least been it I was actually gonna mention that but posting from mobile only allows a certain number of characters per post

There are some pretty damn good wrestlers on that list but Jimmy still deserves a spot somewhere in there. I mean, really, he should have FN Carnages spot at least. I love Carnage but he hasn't had the year Jimmy has had.

Ok im sorry but it has to be said This List Is Shit.. How does a man who's vocabulary consists of screaming the word saaaaaaaarrrrr rank higher than davis storm who didnt even make it into the top 30 and how does someone who has clearly improved a great amount since training over at the dojo drop two spots (bbb) I had a descent talk with one of the people involved in creating the list. They said they had heard only good things about Bobby but they were unable to see manyof his matches. They also said they didn't have as much to go on for the WA guys as guys from other states as there were fewer people that had seen a descent amount of EPW. Congrats to Shane Haste and Jag who got spots 13 & 14, both phenomenal wrestlers, I rate both of them incredibely highly. Shane Haste didn't even make the list last year and sothis is a really good achievment for the \"Awe Inspiring\" master of the 630 Senton. But Jag dropped from number 5 which isn't great but he is still up there. Not to mention the big man Richter who is still there at #47 although he dropped from #24, so perhaps he is either underrated or needs to make a big impact in '07. No Jimmy Payne was a bit dissapointing, I don't really like the guy but he has made a huge impact in EPW this year and has held the title for a while. Although he did recieve a special mention. This is what I wrote on NHB- I think that I disagree with is Bobby BadBlood's spot. Bobby Badblood aka Bobby Joe Marshall (or just Bobby Marshall) got spot #42 on the list. This is quite good however he has made a huge impact where he is wrestling in the states and is really over, over there. Not to mention hais title shot and his awesome main event match at Re Awakening V. I thought that would warrant him a higher spot especially seeing as he was #40 last year, so seeing that he has dropped two spots was a shock. I think that was a big let down.

SurfingBozo- 01-04-2007

Meh, this list has no credibility as the owners of NHB haven't seen some of the wrestlers on the list and are going on hearsay only. No point congratulating anyone for making a list like this.

NewF'nShow666- 01-04-2007

It's not actually hearsay, they had contributors from over states as well. Regarding TNT over Davis Storm like someone said, i'm not TNT's biggest fan, but he did have a reasonably strong year and did a full tour over in Japan for Zero One Max, so achievement wise he had a pretty strong year. Then you have a guy like Obie who did a WWE tryout in the US at #38, you have guys like Ryan Eagles and Mason Childs who wrestled all over the country, you've got the best from NSW and Victoria to contend with, i'm a fan of EPW, but being an EPW wrestler doesn't automatically make someone the best of the best. Truth be told, from seeing either live shows or DVD's of a lot of shows this year, a good part of the list is pretty spot on, at the very least, the top 10 cannot be argued with.

Matty- 01-04-2007

As someone who had a small input into the list - I can tell you now that NHB go to great lengths in order to see as much wrestling as possible. Whether that is going to shows - both local and interstate (quite frequently might I add), or purchasing DVDs. Sure a list like this is never going to be perfect, and that is totally understandable considering the circumstances. However, we do feel that this is the best list that we could create having seen the product(s) that we've seen - and yes that does include DVDs of EPW, as well as input from EPW fans and friends. So there ya go. Feel free to continue to shit on the list however you like – in the end its only the opinions of a fan site. ;)

i understand that it wont be perfect but unless someone study's allt eh feds i dont see a point in making the list... i mean i cant judge someone on one match but the only time ive seen tnt wrestle he really imo wasnt up to the standards of someone like bbb or jimmy payne.... and i apologise if im wrong but isnt jason helton canadian because epw promoted the 2003 hohw main event as the 'canadian hellraiser' jason helton vs 'the epw champion' jimmy payne... so how does someone who's canadian make it onto an australian list ... once again . apologies if im wrong

And once again, in only seeing limited work from EPW guys, its very difficult to determine just who is the cream of the crop so to speak. I could list off a dozen names that I would have liked to see in the list - but thats just how it is I'm afraid. Only 2 QLDers made the list and you don't hear us complaining.

No Holds Barred- 01-04-2007

Since the release of this particular list we have had some very gracious people step forward and offer their assistance with next years list. We are very appreciative of that fact. We also appreciate Chad, offering his services in reviewing shows for us - as it is quite difficult for us to do so while in Melbourne. He has been doing this for a number of months now, and we love him for it. Understanding that you probably don't appreciate our efforts in trying to compile a list like this - however we would like it to be a bit more credible than say the IWA list, where Mikey and Richter, who are arguably some of the best talents in the country- were placed at number 71 and 72 - and we *know* that they are better than about 30 people placed before him. We are intending on coming over for an EPW show this year - money permitting- and we are anticipating seeing the EPW product in person. However, this was not an ill researched task. We got help from people in every state and tried to incorporate everyone's thoughts into the list. And trust us, that is not an easy task! Especially when we each have our own thoughts as well. In closing, thanks for your feedback - we will endeavour to incorporate more. P.S: We really wanted to put BBB up higher - but we hadn't heard a lot about his work except his overseas stuff - and even then it was "He wrestled here". We are anxious to see and learn more! P.P.S: Jason Helton has lived in Australia for an extremely long time - I think his spot is justified. Doesn't matter he was born in Canada, he represents Australian Wrestling when he wrestles. I just have to say thanks to all for any input and discussion about the NHB Top 50, whether it be positive or negative... if anything Im happy it generates discussion of any form about Aussie wrestling as a whole. I would like to say that first, Im a big fan of all the EPW talents and all involved with their shows and even have the gracious honour to be friends with some of them. When making this list, we can only go by what we see and hear... and that was alot, but obviously not enough in some circumstances. Some have said that we dont see enough of the EPW boys to make a credible call on who should go where in a list like this, but I do say that I could almost guarantee that the same people saying this would not have seen 80% of the rest of the people within the same list, so whos to say the higher ranked guys ARENT better than those below them? Who knows? I would have loved to have fit about 30 guys in the top 10... BBB, Davis Storm AND Jimmy included... but its an impossibility. All in all, its just a bit of fun, and Im glad it at least generates some discussion ;) Peace :)
