Independant Wrestlers in Australia
I was talking to my mate about this international assault tour because we were trying to decide if its worth flying to melbourne to go see. They have a couple good names there, but we pretty much decided it just wasn't enough to warrent flying over east to go see. It was an interesting discussion actually. It lead me to ask him who exactly he would go out of his way to go see. I explained that a lot of them would never be able to come because of WWE or TNA contracts. It got me thinking. Is there any big name indy guys that would draw a crowd here in Australia, or would they have to have come from a WWE or TNA background? I know i'd mark out for X-pac. My mate suggested a few others. What indy wrestlers do you guys think would be worth going to see?

Serial Thriller- 04-12-2007

All the indy guys I would pay money to see are now under contract by WWE. Paul London, CM Punk, Super Crazy... etc etc.

jaffa- 04-12-2007

technically they arn't indy wrestlers then are they :P hehe

Baconfudge- 04-13-2007

I hope that the NWA Pro and EPW shell out for American Dragon Bryan Danielson, for the NWA show on 23/11. It would be nice. I was hopeing for AJ Styles but since it looks like TNA are parting company with the NWA, that'll be just wishful thinking.

Doesn't mean AJ can't come, he can do indy shows still. I'd give a limb to see Daniels, Joe, Delirious or Nigel.

The Vision- 04-13-2007

i would like to see delerious come. also Sabin is the bomb

RattleSnake- 04-13-2007

I'd like 2 see X-Pac, AJ, Sabin, PT Williams, Rhyno, Phsicosis. Any1 who used to be in WCW and im not sure who else.

thatguy665- 04-13-2007

I'd say the Briscoes. Best team in the world so yeh. Also Shelley and Sabin would be real cool to see.

I'd say the Briscoes. Best team in the world so yeh. Also Shelley and Sabin would be real cool to see. Not so hot on Shelly or Sabin but the Briscoes are awesome. Davey Richards is somebody I wouldn't mind seeing. KENTA is another.

I was surfing the net the other night at work looking at other Aus promotions and noticed that one (AWF i think) have upcoming shows with Bill DeMott (ex-WWE) on the card. Better know as Hugh Morris / General Hugh G Rection from the Misfits in Action in the dying days of WCW. Also I believe he was the 1st guy Goldberg beat (ie 1) in the 174-0 streak. If I can find the sight I'll link it.

MrAshWoodsworth- 04-18-2007

Yeah i noticed that, would be interesting to see how many extra tickets they shifted with Hugh Morris on the card. I'm sure he would draw...and thats no laughing matter!! (see what i did there??)

Bjorn- 04-18-2007

He didn't make the trip, his flight was grounded due to weather. A shame but the people that went to the show ended up seeing Steve Frost vs TNT. Personally I'd take Steve Frost of Demott any day.

I don't kow if your allowed to plug other sites here so delete away Mr Moderator if thats the case, but... If you want to learn some more about Pro Wrestling in the Eastern States then your best bet is checking out www.wrestling.net.au Or www.allaussiewrestling.com (maybe.au?) All Aussie wrestling is the one I would recommend for learning about Aus Wrestling, it's got as much news on it as anything else without any poltitical crap or bias toward certain feds. Give it a read. Australia actually has a pretty vibrant independant scene. AWF in particular have brought over Cima from Japan and Steve Corino recently (plus the attempted Bill DeMott ones)

Bjorn- 04-19-2007

It's www.allaussiewrestling.com No .au And yeah, they've got a lot of info on them, worth a look for sure.
