First EPW show in 3 years
If nothing else the marks for them kept me away, I used to post on an Australian messageboard where people would say stupid stuff like "I'd rather see an EPW show than a WWE one" so that put me off (the scary bogan parents almost made me leave before we went inside on Sat). I had a really fun night, my friend and I started the "you got fired" chant for Lukey and yelled a bunch of other crap when we felt like it and other than Psychofett who's still not very good we were impressed with the effort put in by the guys in general. Although a few less Bonds singlets would be nice. The commentator with the ponytail was really on the ball and funny, the other guy was pretty useless but I liked they didn't take themselves seriously. The last show we went to one of the commentators called WWE "the other federation" which is just sad. We'll be back next month. The DVD's are stupidly overpriced however, I can get 7 hours of TNA (four Impacts and a PPV) for $15 so why would I fork out more for a lesser product?

I will say it again for you then, I would rather pay good money to go see an EPW show than go to a WWE show for free............seriously, the WWE style of matches just doesnt interest me at all and I know the EPW guys are going out into that ring and working hard to entertain us. In regards to the DVDs, your obviously buying pirated copies of TNA, an original TNA DVD imported from the states cost $30+ and TNA have a huge company financing them so sure the DVDs might be a whopping $20 but the money goes into bettering the EPW product such as the new Ring and steel cage and bringing over interstate competitors. the second comentator is Brad West who is currently rehabbing an injury so yeah hes not a specialist in commentating and when guys like the coach and the king are getting $100,000.00 a year we shouldnt complain too much man your holding a grudge for what someone said 3 years ago about the WWE...........I think we can all move on from that and besides how do u know they ment WWE tho I can only remember the WWE getting mentioned twice in the past, once in jest when there was a mystery opponent and they were joking bout a WWE star who had just got fired or quit being the partner and the other time was when they changed their name because vinny mac bought the ECW rights but I cant ever remember a view that WWE was a rival fed or anything (unless someone corrects me) obviously my views are different to yours and we shall leave it at that

Comparing WWE to EPW just makes you seem crazy.

bang3r- 02-12-2006

i also prefer epw over wwe the last few wwe shows i have seen made me so utterly disgusted because of how shit i thought the entire quality of the show was. just because they're the mainsteam crap doesn't mean they're what everyone should base the wrestling standard on Comparing WWE to EPW just makes you seem crazy ? care to share why you think this?

killswitch- 02-12-2006

It's like comparing the cover band that plays at your local pub to the biggest band in the world. It doesn't matter if you like what they're doing at the moment, they have probably the grea-*test*-('") talent rosters in the history of the industry at the moment with at leat 5 guys who will go down as the best of all time.

jaffa- 02-12-2006

just because somethings the biggest doesnt mean its the best.............we could use films as an example...........Huge film called King Kong, one of the most expensive films ever made going against a small budget film called Brokeback Mountain, which film has more award nominations?? sure WWE has some great performers on their roster but their booking is terrible and their in ring action has been watered down to the boring WWE style of wrestling and that to me is not something I want to watch

Im throwing my 5 cents into this. Now I went to the last two smackdown shows that came to Perth even though Im more of a Raw fan, the first one was mildly amusing tere was some decent wrestling and Flair got the crowd pumped, the second and most recent show was an absolute bomb. The crowd was completely silent there was no crowd participation at all and Im osorry but I really hate JBL. Its alot harder on the WWE wrestlers because they are on the road almos everyday of the week going around America where as the much loved EPW lads only have to put on a show ever 6 or so weeks that being said the EPW put their asses on the line to entertain us with the knowledge that they might get injured. I dont think Ive seen a WWE wrestler do that in a long time, it about resting on your laurels, EPW doesnt they continue to push themselves every show (700 people at ReAwakening cant be wrong) where as the WWE has been the big boy for way to long and has forgotten what its like to have competition

N.A.S.- 02-12-2006

Or how about that fact that WWE/TNA would be producing their DVD's in bulk, 100,000's of them and consiquently each DVD costs them all of $1 to make. Where as the EPW ones would be costing them a shitload more and they're still trying to make a profit. Or better yet how about you buy an EPW dvd because you want to support your local fed. You want to make sure that they are still going to be there in a months time for Stand and Deliver and that they'll still be there for the show after that. Or perhaps your proud of EPW and what they've accomplished in the last five years and how far they've come since then and you want to remember a special time in Perth's wrestling history and future. Or save $5, you know whatever.

Killswitch, you wouldn't happen to be the dude with the beard sitting next to the other dude with the beard near the announcers table? Ben!

Re: First EPW show in 3 years
you cannot compare live to a taping - there is no comparison. and also if you dont like it, dont go, its hypocrites like you that sit there and tear a show up into little pieces and try to make it harder for other people to enjoy the show. my advice, just shut up, sit down and hang on for an enthralling night of wrestling. Sure, EPW isnt WWE, but it is NWA. So keep an eye out, because things can only get better, like they have since day one.

To be fair, the guy is entitled to his opinions, and at the end of the day, he came to a show, was entertained by what he saw and says he'll be back for the very next show. You can't ask for more than that.

/usr/epw- 02-13-2006

I cannot wait until the DVD of STS is released. Well worth getting.

Captain- 02-13-2006

exactly. The guy hasnt exactly said anything bad about EPW. In fact most of his post was discussing how he was impressed. I disagree with his comments about pshychofett, but oh well he can have his opinion. WWE have lowered there standard of wrestling, but theres a reason. Think Jeff Hardy, Mick Foley, all those wrestlers who put there bodys on the line every week. Now look at the list of injuries, and how soon they go into retirement, and how sore they are. Also, the whole shock and awe factor got old, the basically went as far as they could go and people got used to leaping off cages through tables. Now they do it rarely, so when they do, big reaction. So now they entertain you out of the ring, and get more life out of there wrestlers. Im more entertained by EPW match quality, but WWE's storylines and out of ring acting (well most of the time...) cant be matched. Either way, im entertained by both WWE and EPW.

Killswitch, you wouldn't happen to be the dude with the beard sitting next to the other dude with the beard near the announcers table? yeah, that was us.

Serial Thriller- 02-14-2006

Yeah, i was the kid in the Korn shirt, trying to help your chants get off the ground. You guys seemed to be enjoying yourselves... good to see. Ben!
