Well, my WrestleRock dvd's arrived on Wednesday and I went through them the last few days so I'll put up a short review on what I saw.
- The quality of the dvd's in quite good, Mikey J Productions has done a good job keeping a nice flow throughout the show.
- The shows themselves seem a bit short for my liking. Each card seems to be roughly four matches long, but for $15 each it was well worth purchasing to check out some other Aussie talent.
Performers:
Trikki D - This guy was my favourite straight off. I can't hate a man that comes out to It's Trickie by Run DMC. One of the cruiserweights over east I think he's quite charasmatic and I have enjoyed what I've seen from him so far. Could maybe use a little help in regards to attire.
Laser - Usually I'd love anyone who comes out to a Twisted Sister song but for some reason I don't think his character suited the song. Another one of Victoria's cruiserweights he did quite a good job on both shows and seems relatively over.
Daniel Swagger - Played the cocky young guy on the roster. Appeared to be pretty over, but could use a bit more size as he's not very convincing when looking at him but he certainly has a bit of X-Factor about him.
Vanity Inc - For some reason I just didn't enjoy these guys. \"Mr. Saturday Night\" Blade and \"The Most Beautiful Man in the Cozmos\" Stephan Cool played the guys who think they're irrisistable to women despite the fact they're really nothing special to look at. Their in-ring performances were fine but for me it just didn't click.
Steve Frost - One of the big men in Australian wrestling. Came out on the first show and destroyed everyone with a series of chokeslams and powerbombs. I'll wait til I see a bit more of his in-ring stuff before I judge his ability because I was close to asleep when I watched his match last night (it was roughly 2am). He certainly has the look though, big dude, evil looking.
Mad Dog - This guy really, really disappointed me. I had heard him hyped up on other boards as someone who didn't look like anything special but could go in the ring. It may just be me but I didn't enjoy either of his matches, he looked really sloppy and I just didn't enjoy what i was watching.
\"Red Hot\" Ricky Diamond - From what I heard about him he's from an old promotion called All-Star Wrestling. On the two events I've seen he has held a match called \"The Hardcore Hotel\" in which it was an open challenge to any wrestler in Australia for, obviously, a hardcore match. The first challenge was accepted by Mad Dog, it was an ok match but I just couldn't get into it. The second challenge was accepted by the biggest man in Australian wrestling, Cremator. This match was much more entertaining than the first Hardcore Hotel in my opinion as it turns out, Cremator is a complete smart ass and I couldn't help but laugh.
Cremator - Made his debut at WrestleRock 2 against Ricky Diamond. Made some good calls throughout the match and fuck me he's huge. I can see why he's so loved over east.
KrackerJack - I've only seen him referee so far and that was during the Cremator v Diamond match off WrestleRock 2. There was obvious tension between Cremator and KrackerJack so I'm assuming that lead upto a match at WrestleRock 3. He's got a good look if you're into the whole biker/bogan look, personally, I wouldn't want to bump into him at night.
Emily Grace - She was just there to hold up a piece of card before each match started but fuck she was smokin'.
Julian James - One of the commentators, didn't do a bad job. He was the face of the commentary team.
Criss Fresh - The heel of the commentary team and must say I enjoyed his work. These two make a good team.
The Ox - Was built up as a legend of Australian wrestling. Is now the \"Sherriff\" of WrestleRock which I guess makes him an enforcer, kinda like Stone Colds old role. He had a good look when he was still wrestling (appears to have put on a few pounds since) but on the mic he reminds me a little too much of Hogan (says brother way too much).
Sebastian Walker - Appears to be The Ox's arch nemesis. Havn't seen him in-ring yet but am looking foward to it.
Canadian Bulldog - Sebastian Walker's bodyguard. Not a fan at the moment but havn't seen him in an actual match yet either so there you go.
Brave Dave - Opened WrestleRock 2 with a match against Slex. Certainly not a bad worked and if he lost a bit of weight (only puppy fat really) he'd have a good look in my opinion. What I saw of him was very old school, pick a body part and work it.
Slex - I'd been looking foward to seeing Slex wrestle and wasn't disappointed. His match wasn't a classic but it was an opener so obviously they can't let it be all it can be but I'm certainly looking foward to seeing more of him. His finisher, the Slexxecution, is an enziguiri.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the dvd's. Can't wait until WrestleRock 4 comes out on dvd though, Jag vs Slex will be one hell of a main event.

did you find the music during the matches to be a negative or a positive influence to the actual wrestling itself
synista- 12-29-2006
There was actually no music during the matches, atleast not that I could hear.
I think the bands must have played inbetween matches. If so, that bands were not included on the dvd's.
Little Bean- 12-29-2006
alrighty, I just checked their site and it looks alright, but at $23 tickets are a little more expensive than I would be willing to pay (especially since the brand is only just being developed) although I guess the bands need to get paid to.
I also think the lack of matches may also have to do with fewer wretlers on the roster, I think a fed the size of EPW needs to keep its cards larger because of the huge roster sizes.

How do Steve Frost and Cremeator compare with our own big man Richter?
synista- 12-29-2006
Well, personally I prefer Richter but that's probably bias.
In my opinion, Richter is the more mobile of the three and only really gives up a recognisable amount of size to Cremator.
in training- 12-29-2006
So how big is Cremator?
And how does Slex compare in comparison to the likes of Shane Haste?
I'm just trying to get a better feeling of Aussie wrestling as of late.
synista- 12-29-2006
Cremator is just fucking huge. I'd say a few inches on Richter and he's got a bit of weight too.
Slex is more like Jag and Mikey really. More of a technical wrestler than a high flyer, although he did perform a nice dive to the outside on Brave Dave.
NewF'nShow666- 01-04-2007
Just to clarify, Cremator is legit about 6'7 and 140 kg, Steve Frost is about 6' and 100-105 i'd say. I went to the first Wrestlerock show and loved it, but it doesn't really show guys to the best of their abilities, Frost is at his best in PWA, the dude is very technically sound, probably the hardest hitter in Australia and is lightning quick.
Just as a recommendation, i'd suggest checking out PWA Canberra DVD's from www.pwacanberra.com storyline wise they are IMO the best fed in Australia and they use not only some good ACT wrestlers (Crofty in particular is awesome), but some of the best from both Sydney and Melbourne, if you want to find out what the fuss is about regarding guys like Ryan Eagles, Justin Cross, Mad Dog, Jay Andrews and Slex, seeing them on PWAC DVD's really shows what they've got, IMO the Justin Cross vs Mad Dog, Slex vs Jay Andrews, Ryan Eagles vs Justin Cross (dog collar match) and James Edwards vs Jason Tyler matches are all really worth checking out.
HatchetSwinger- 01-04-2007
Richter went to melbourne and wrestled Steve Frost, i havent seen it but it would probably be worth checking out to compare the two.
The Vision- 01-04-2007
Do you know who won?
NewF'nShow666- 01-05-2007
Do you know who won?
Well Frost was PWA Australian champion at the time while that was Richter's first or second appearance, so the rest is easy to figure out 8)
No Holds Barred- 01-05-2007
Do you know who won?
I was at that show and it was freakin awesome.
Richter got a huge welt from Steve on his chest.
It was the PWA HMAS Cerberus show - if you were willing to track down the DVD. Though, I have a feeling nothing was filmed.
I think we have photos up in our NHB archives from 2005 though. If that helps. :)

Our (synista and mysaelf) PWA DVDs have finally beeen ordered (pretty much) and will be over here hopefully before Hot Summers Night. We'll fill you in on how good they were.
I have ordered.
4 Corbers of Death, Interstate Invitational (last copy) and either Leagacy of the Ladder or Man vs. Maker.
All these DVDs have been recommended and should be a good watch.
